Welcome to Gaited Horse - The North American Single-Footing Horse Association

To provide an organization for the registration and promotion of horses that naturally travel with a single-footing gait and possess the qualities that trail riders consistently request in a gaited horse used for travel. To offer and award program designed to recognize outstanding horses and to promote the versatility of NASHA horses. To act as an information source for NASHA members to improve their knowledge and enjoyment of single-footing horses.

Membership:

Open to anyone interested in Single-Footing Horses.

Suspension of Membership:

Any member who knowingly and deliberately falsifies registration forms; award program forms; is involved in trying to influence a judge�s decision in an illegal manner; or any owner, trainer and/or exhibitor �soring� a horse and entering and participating with that horse in a NASHA event.

Membership Fees:

Lifetime Stable/Family Membership $ 500

Annual Stable/Family Membership $ 35

Registration Requirements:

As of January 1, 1997 all horses registered with NASHA must fall into one of these three categories:

Horses with both their sire and dam registered with NASHA can be registered at any age. A video of the horse gaiting must be provided along with a registration application. If all the ancestors on a three-generation pedigree are registered with NASHA no video is required.
Horses with one parent registered with NASHA can be registered. The horse must be at least 6 months of age. A video of the horse gaiting must be provided along with a registration application.
Horses 6 months or older of exceptional quality and a true single-footing gait may apply for registration with neither parent registered. However, this category will be reserved for exceptional quality horses only. A video of the horse gaiting must be provided along with a registration application.

Stallion Breeding Reports will be required before horses will be registered after January 1, 1997.

A foal produced by a NASHA registered mare can only be registered by the recorded mare owner at time of foaling.

�FB� Horse Registration:

This is a special registration given to exceptional quality stallions or mares no longer living who have had a positive and substantial impact on the bloodlines of horses registered with NASHA. The owner or family of the owner of the horse must apply for registration.

�HB� Horse Registration:

This is a special registration given to horses from Colonial Spanish herds were two qualified people have certified that �gait� exists within the herd. The horse will receive a HB number and the name of the herd from which the horse comes.

Registration Fees:

Permanent Registration $ 25

Transfer $ 10

False Registration:

Any horse who is found to have inaccurate registration information will have it�s registration papers corrected and a new registration form issued.

Award Program:

The NASHA Award Program is divided into Categories. Each Category is of equal value. These Categories are divided into 5 Divisions. Each Division addresses specific uses.
